  Young Lieutenant Hall with his troop in the Libyan Desert

 

  National Service in Hampshire and then in Korea on active service followed by Mons Officer Cadet School and Sandhurst (Intake 16).  Commissioned RE 1955.

Cyprus during the troubles of EOKA with periods of going to Libya for desert training.

Ghana and the Congo when the squadron became an infantry battalion.  Major patrol deterring the Balubakat.

David N Hall as a Sandhurst instructor 1962 - 1964 followed by Staff College and then Staff Officer to the Engineer-in-Chief.

Squadron command Longmoor, Scotland and Gibraltar.

Technical appointments Kirkcudbright and, after command of Depot Regiment, research establishment in Colchester before final appointment at Brighton before starting a second career.
